Nimiztlatlauhtia translates to "Please" and
Ma xipactinemi translates to "Be Well" in the Nahuatl language.
The construction of this production is in relation to the winter solstice and the concept of passing through darker days onto more days with light. The idea of growth and change from a traditional rough season for most. A Time where the sun now begins to rise differently and shines more brighter everyday flourishing growth to the planet.
I chopped & looped Elvis Presley's version of "Christmas is Here" but in a way where its very slow (slow growth of winter) and the 1 bar looping represents a 4/4 count (4 seasons) in the time signature and with 4 different sequences of 1 bar loops but with the idea of traditional break beat loops, cyphers, and indigenous cultures of the circle.
A PRAYER & CALL TO MY BROTHERS, SISTERS, AND LEADERS OF THE WORLD.
ENOUGH WAR.
ENOUGH BUILDING WEAPONS.
ENOUGH DESTRUCTION.
ENOUGH UNHEALTHY BALANCES.
INSTEAD OF MANUFACTURING DESTRUCTIVE DESIGNS.
WHY DON'T WE MANUFACTURE SOMETHING THAT IS BETTER?
TO BE USED TO HELP HUMANITY AND NOT DESTROY AND GET RID OF HUMANITY.
A stunning journey through Detroit's Black musical traditions from one of the city's longtime beat music stalwarts. Bandcamp Album of the Day Nov 16, 2022
