When I lived in Queens, NYC, I built a music program & media technologies with the youth in the neighborhood of Queens Bridge/Sunnyside/Woodside. During those times, the 7 grandfathers showed up and taught me lessons on the 7 Train line in Queens in a variety of interactions, ironically these teachings would come to transfer from words & ideas into bold actions & experiences, dreams to realities....
#ShoutOutToMySet ---> Sife. Love you bro.
These are the teachings of the Mishomis (grandfather), and EYE learned a great song of the east, and so mishomis said:
"You will encounter a song where the sun rises first to Turtle Island, and in this song you will learn from the direction of the east, so that you will know the great knowledge of creation."
Yikes... It was spoken, so, I learned these teachings the hard way, and transcribed em into hip hop lyrics.
The 7 Grandfather teachings:
=====================
Nibwaakaawin—Wisdom: To cherish knowledge is to know Wisdom. Wisdom is given by the Creator to be used for the good of the people.

=====================
Gwayakwaadiziwin—Honesty: Honesty in facing a situation is to be brave.
=====================
Dabaadendiziwin—Humility: Humility is to know yourself as a sacred part of Creation.
=====================
Debwewin—Truth is to know all of these things. Speak the truth. Do not deceive yourself or others.
